Bank Islam Launches Its First Seven-Day Banking Service


Its Bandar Baru Perda branch to offer Weekend and Night banking

SEBERANG PRAI, Friday, [18 May 2012]: Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (“Bank Islam”) today launched its first full-fledged branch that provides seven-day banking services to cater to the changing lifestyle and time constraints of Malaysian consumers. The opening of the branch, officiated by Bank Islam Managing Director, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Sri Zukri Samat marks the relocation from its previous site in Bandar Baru Perda to AEON Seberang Prai Shopping Centre. The newly relocated branch is also Bank Islam’s first full-fledged branch within a shopping mall, providing a complete range of services and facilities.

In his speech, Dato’ Sri Zukri Samat said: “The opening of this branch signifies yet another milestone for Bank Islam. We believe that with the relocation of this branch, it will further enable us to serve our customers better. The branch will be a full-service branch offering a wide range of products and services that meet the banking needs of business owners in the mall and the public patronising the mall as well as those in the neighbouring vicinity.”

Located on the ground floor of the AEON Seberang Prai Shopping Centre, the branch occupies approximately 2,650 square feet. Business owners and shoppers will be able to perform a variety of transactions at this full-service branch such as opening of accounts, applying for financings, investing in structured and wealth management products as well as Tabung Haji related transactions.

The branch will be headed by Encik Noor Azman Ismail and assisted by a team of 18 specially-trained executives. A dedicated Internet-banking area is available for customers for a hassle-free online banking experience. Customers can also opt for self-service terminals for cash withdrawals, cash deposits and cheque deposits.

Dato’ Sri Zukri Samat said: “Another special feature of the newly relocated branch is that it will follow the business hours of the mall. In addition to being open 7 days a week, its operating hours will extend from 10 am to 8 pm on Mondays to Fridays and from 11 am to 8 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.”

“With the extended operating hours, we provide our customers and the surrounding community the flexibility of doing banking after working hours or on weekends,” Dato’ Sri Zukri Samat further added.

In conjunction with the opening ceremony, a six-day Sales Carnival will be held at the concourse area of the shopping centre from 15 May to 20 May 2012 to showcase Bank Islam’s Consumer Banking products and services.

Bank Islam also held a prize-giving ceremony for the winners of Al-Awfar and Al-Awfar Junior Savings Account – i, in conjunction with the opening ceremony. Encik Mohd Irwan Bin Mohd Apandi from Butterworth secured the grand prize of RM100,000. While for the junior category, the top prize went to Adik Muhamad Hafizuddin Bin Noor Shalmi from Kepala Batas, who took home a Samsung Tab 7.7, a Toshiba 40-inch LCD TV and an Olympus SZ-30M camera; worth a total of RM5,000.

In addition, Bank Islam introduced the ‘WOW Campaign’ which began on 2 May 2012 to reward its loyal customers. The campaign allows Bank Islam’s customers and their family members to enjoy special profit rates when applying for Bank Islam financing products which include home financing, personal financing and Bank Islam cards.
