KUALA LUMPUR – December 5, 2006: Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (Bank Islam), today announced its appointment as the collecting agent for universities’ fees payment.
This facility is one of the ways for students to pay their tuition fees for the universities, institutions of higher learning, colleges and polytechniques nationwide.
The payment process can be performed via any of Bank Islam’s 265 automated teller machines (ATM), Financial Process Exchange (FPX) and also at all its 90 branches.
However, students are encouraged to perform the payment via FPX through their universities’ webpages since it is more convenient, fast and accurate.
As an example , students from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) who have saving accounts and an internet account with Bank Islam bankislam.biz just need to access the university’s website at www.uitm.edu.my to perform the transaction.
Advantages of FPX
Cost and time savings, no need to go to the branches
Easy payment, can be done at your own convenient and time
Online, real time payment status verification
Bank Islam has also implemented the FPX payment with UiTM since November 2004. Currently, the facility has been expanded to a few other universities namely Universiti Utara Malaysia, Universiti Malaya, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Open University Malaysia and School of Professional & Continuing Education (SPACE) Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. This system will also be introduced to the students of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia soon.
FPX was launched and developed on 2004 by the Malaysian Electronics Payment System (MEPs), an agency under Bank Negara Malaysia’s supervision. Bank Islam is one of the trend setters in introducing this latest payment method via any appointed websites.
Besides tuition fee payment, customers can also pay utility bills, purchase bus tickets, shopping and perform other transactions through FPX.
Bank Islam will also be signing a memorandum of agreement with Perbadanan Tabung Pengajian Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) for the repayment of its students study loan via FPX service.
