Zakat contributions expected to lighten the burden of underprivileged students
KOTA BHARU, Wednesday, [31 October 2012] - Ar-Rahnu Bank Islam today handed over Zakat contribution of RM11, 500 to 46 poor students from Maahad Tahfiz Darul Quran Wal Qiraat, Pasir Mas, Markaz Al-Aitam, Pasir Puteh dan Sek. Keb. Demit 2, Pengkalan Chepa in Kelantan.
The Zakat contribution to students was presented by Encik Mahmood Jusoh, representing Farihan Corporation Sdn Bhd, in a simple ceremony held at Masjid Telipot, Kota Bharu.
According to Encik Mahmood Jusoh, the contribution reflects the Bank’s concern in helping the plight of the less fortunate.
"This contribution is expected to ease the burden of disadvantaged students as well as motivate them to seek knowledge. Indirectly, it can also boost the living standards of the students’ families when they succeed," he said.
Ar-Rahnu Bank Islam has been operating in Kelantan since 2010, and to date, there are four Ar-Rahnu Bank Islam branches in the state; Pasir Puteh, Kota Bharu, Pasir Mas and Tanah Merah.
At the same ceremony, Bank Islam donated 10 copies of Waqaf Al-Quran Bank Islam Card to Masjid Telipot. Additionally, the Ramadan month also saw the Bank, through the Bank Islam Card’s Infaq Sadaqah donation program, making cash donations to a number of recipients which include Masjid Mukim Kampung Jerimbong, Jeli (RM500), Masjid Mukim Gong Datok, Pasir Puteh (RM450) and RM1,195 Pasukan Perlindungan Kanak-Kanak, Kelantan. The program is open to all members of Bank Islam Card.
