BIMB Investment Management Berhad

Encik Nazaruddin Othman
Chief Executive Officer

BIMB Investment Management Berhad [BIMB Invest] was established on 14th September 1993 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank Islam. Currently, we have five retail funds for investors to choose from, based on their risk profile namely, BIMB i Growth (Equity Fund), BIMB Dana Al-Falah (Mixed Assets Fund),  BIMB Dana Al- Munsif (Balanced Fund), BIMB Dana Al-Fakhim (Money Market Fund) and BIMB i Dividend Fund (Equity Fund), and two wholesale funds namely BIMB Invest Money Market Fund (BIMMF) and BIMB i Cash Management Fund.

A Shariah-Compliant Unit Trust is a form of investment scheme which provides a channel for individual and corporate investors who share similar financial objectives to pool and invest their monies in a diversified Shariah-compliant portfolio of stocks, sukuk and other Islamic securities.

The Shariah-compliant Unit Trust scheme allows investors to take an active but indirect exposure to a broad mix of investment instruments and to benefit from better differential rate of returns without having to spend substantial time in researching, managing and safeguarding their investments in the dynamic capital or money market environments. Investors may enjoy all benefits generated by the unit trust fund including income distribution and capital appreciation from time to time.

When Aqad is initiated between the investors (The Principal) and BIMB Invest (The Agent), the Islamic contract involved is under the concept of WAKALAH LIL ISTITHMAR or ‘Investment Agency’.

The investor (the Principal) appoints BIMB Invest (the Agent) to undertake investment activities on behalf of the Principal for a fee. BIMB Invest, as an investment manager in carrying out Shariah-compliant investment activities as agreed by both parties, cannot guarantee the profit expected from the investment.

The Manager will invest the funds in accordance with the requirements of Shariah and comply with the SC and Shariah Supervisory Council (SAC) rules & regulations, and the Deeds of the funds. In carrying out this responsibility, the Manager will receive Management Fee under the concept of AL-UJRAH.
